As a mangaka, she is one of the pioneers of manga culture in Japan.
Her illustrations were printed on comic covers and stationery such as colouring books, sketch books and pen cases. They were serialized and became very popular.
Eico transformed her manga style as her readers matured and she continued to work with many manga magazines and ladies magazines.
Some of her recent manga has been based on famous mystery novels and literary classics. In 2008, the "Eico Fair" was held in Le Bon March in Paris, France, where her illustrations and products adorned with adorable girls aroused much interest. And in 2009, she welcomed her 50th anniversary as a mangaka where her autobiography was published.
